একটা পুরুষ যখন পরিবারের ৫ টি মৌলিক চাহিদা মেটাতে পারে, তখনই তাকে স্বাবলম্বী হিসেবে গণনা করা হয় এবং তার নিজ সংসার গড়ার জন্য যোগ্য হয়। আর সেগুলো হলো - খাদ্য, বস্ত্র, বাসস্থান, শিক্ষা, চিকিৎসা। কিন্তু, বর্তমান বিশ্বে নতুন আরেকটি মৌলিক চাহিদা যুক্ত হয়েছে; এবং তা হলো "শখ"! পরিবারের ৫ টি মৌলিক চাহিদা পূরণ সব পুরুষের পক্ষেই সম্ভব ছিল। কিন্তু, আজ পরিবার টিকে রাখানোই সম্ভব নয় শখ পূরণ না করতে পারলে। আর আজ তাই চারিদিকে এতো দুর্দশা।
"শখ'গুলো" যাদের, তাদের তো তা নিজেদেরই তা মেটানোর কথা, তাই না?? আমাদের শিক্ষাতেই ভুল তবে বলতে হবে। যার যার শখ তার তার কাছে। আর এই শখ মেটানোর পিছে লেগে আজ পরিবারকে হাটতে হচ্ছে কালো ও মিথ্যা পথে। আমরা শখ মেটাই বিধায় আজ এটা মৌলিক চাহিদায় পরিণত হয়েছে বলতে বাধ্য হচ্ছি।
স্বন্তানেরাও তাই শিখছে ও নির্ভর করছে অন্যের উপর।
ভেবে দেখুন। তাই কি হচ্ছে না? শখ মেটাতে গিয়ে নিজের সব সুখ কি মাটি হচ্ছে না?? যে সম্মান পরিবারে ছিলো, তাও বরং চলে যাচ্ছে ও শেষ হয়ে যাচ্ছে না মেটাতে পারলে।
উপহার এবং শখ -এর মধ্যে একটা পার্থক্য আছে। উপহার হিসেবে কিছু পেলে মানুষ তা কদর করে, যেমন- জন্মদিনের উপহার, ঈদের উপহার। কিন্তু, কারো শখ পূরণ করে দিলে মানুষের চাহিদা কেবল বাড়তেই থাকে। নিজের শখ তাই নিজেই পূরণ করা উচিত।

When a man can meet the 5 basic needs of the family, only then is he considered self-reliant and worthy of establishing his own household. And those are — food, clothing, shelter, education, and healthcare. But, in today's world, a new basic need has been added; and that is "hobby"! It was possible for every man to fulfill the 5 basic needs of the family. But today, the family cannot be sustained without fulfilling hobbies. That is why there is so much hardship all around today.
Those who have "hobbies," it is their own responsibility to fulfill them, right? But we must say that there is a fault in our education system. Everyone has their own hobby. And behind fulfilling these hobbies, families today are forced to walk on dark and false paths. Because we fulfill hobbies, I am forced to say that it has become a basic need today.
Children are also learning this and becoming dependent on others. Think about it. Isn't this what is happening? In fulfilling hobbies, isn’t one losing all their own happiness? The respect that was in the family is also disappearing and ending if hobbies are not fulfilled.
There is a difference between gifts and hobbies. When people receive something as a gift, they value it, like birthday presents or Eid gifts. But when someone's hobby is fulfilled, people's demands only increase. Therefore, one should fulfill their own hobbies themselves.
